Bump Its!

This one's for the laaaaaaaaaaadies!

So the big thing these days is wearing that little "pouf" at the crown of your head, and I've always had the hardest time doing it, no matter how much I hairspray or backcomb, my hair always goes flat. I just saw a commercial for this thing called "Bump Its" and I reeeeeally want to have it.

https://www.bumpits.com/Default.aspx

Anyone heard of it or have it?
I've heard of it! I wonder how hard it is to make sure it's covered though.
Does anyone have them? Do they actually work or do they just poke out under your hair and look ridiculous?
How does it stay in the hair?

I don't know if I'd trust it...... Only because I suck at stuff like that and not to mention my hair doesn't do anything I ask of it anyway.
Apparently you can get a free one (after 6.95 s&h). They cost $20. Worth a try. Who wants to be our guina pig?
I don't think my hair will hold it in ... too fine and straight.
omg i totally want one of those things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
According to Tyra Banks, that bump is not the big thing. She told one of her girls to take that bump thing out of her...

I'm just saying.
I think it's a consipracy that hairdressers don't tell us the secrets to having full, volumnous, perfectly styled hair. My hairdresser's hair always looks wonderful, even on her slouchy days. HMPH.
My bf hates those hairdo's - he says girls look like the bride of frankenstein with them...
I dunno if I would want one of those... I would need to try it out first...
Loren - ask her to teach you - they will...ask her to teach you how to do your hair in between appointments...
Without the "bump" those girls have knappy messes underneath to keep them all poofed up... I hate doing that to my hair...
I can't remember what actress it was, but she was on Ellen talking about how she wanted one of those. So Ellen "just happened" to have a set, and set to work styling this actress's hair with the bump it. Of course Ellen did it quickly and had no idea what she was doing, but it looked God awful and didn't stay in.
That's why America's Next Top Model contestants aren't allowed to have them.
According to the general public, TyTy Banks is crazy, so I can't really trust much of what she has to say.
She is pretty crazy...

That is fantastic TTT.

I don't think crazy is quite the word... egoist. Although, she has fairly good reason to be...

And I still agree about the bump.
My bump, my bump, my lovely lady bump...
I think you can just rat/tease your hair and have the same effect. Just comb a nice top layer over it.

http://www.wikihow.com/Tease-Your-Hair
I agree with Maryn, however, that can take some time, (I really have to back comb the crap outta my hair for it to stay) and by the end of the night you have a mess to comb out.
I hope someone on here gets the bump it and let's us all know how it works! I bet it cuts the time down a lot, and doesn't leave the tangles. I just wonder if it will stay in place?
Remember the Tap Teaser???

I have never learned the art of tease, to my hair or people.
IT HAS STARTED!

Bratz Dolls are giving girls an unnatural expectation of head size.
That and the 80s gave us an unnatural sense of how large our hair should be, especially those of us that had moms with beehives in the 60s.
I started watching the British series Ashes to Ashes today. It took me back to the '80s.

I posted this tweet:
"Ah, the 80's. Fierce hair, Pleather jackets, DOS Computers, everyone hates the cops, and David Bowie keeps jumping out of closets at people."
I believe that's how Marge Simpson got her start.
omg, i remember TAP TAP TAP! hahahahha. that commercial induces vomiting.
what is tap tap tap - the commercial didn't say...
OMG, this puts the bump it to shame!!! Note the excellent production value paired with Meredith's impeccable selling skills. This video is just...beyond words. Hahahaha!!!

I love how she can't stop looking to the side and the shoulders that move up and down at the end as she talks. Also the fact that she has to direct us to use a mirror to check how it looks.
Umm... couple things. It doesn't bother her that her Thinny hair holder makes her look like a conehead?

Plus, she never once shows us the horrible mess it made in the back.

Not to mention you have to have super long hair to "cover" the Thinny hair holder.

What a hilarious joke!!!!
That was hellarious - you can almost hear her thinking "don't stop smiling...just keep smiling...smile...smile...smileeeeyyyyy...ooops it's drooping...SMILE"
Her looking to the side makes it look like a hostage video...
This one's funny too - stupid cone head

A hostage video!!!! TITI I didn't even think of that.
There are these things called hair rolls that were popular for 40s-50s hair styles that I would think you could still find at Sally's Beauty Supply that seem a lot like that product and are probably a lot cheaper. If I'm trying to get a poof with a ponytail, I'll take the front section of my hair and sort of twist it back with bobby pins with the appropriate height before pulling the rest of my hair and the ends of the twist into a ponytail. I didn't explain that very well, but can't think of a better way, lol...
I wonder if Marie Antoinette used something like this, and if it had anything to do with her eventual beheading.
awww man.. i wanted to be the first " man" to post in this chat thread... :(
Zia, you are! I'm the first gorilla.
My mom used to wear rollers to bed. How she did that I have no idea. They were hard circular things that you wrap your hair around. All over her head.

Anyway, she wouldn't let anyone see her in them and one day she forgot she had them in and went for a walk with my dad down the road. Oh man, was she embarrassed when she remember she had them in.
ooh, thanks Anabel! That's really helpful
Nikki, I wore hard curlers to bed once and I couldn't sleep. How does your mom do it? I could see maybe if she used the soft ones..
Never the soft ones. Always the hard ones. I asked the same thing myself Trisha.
I can't believe they let Merideth make more than one video.
i got a bump it!!! LOVE IT :)
PICS! How do you use it? We need instructions!
you DID?! u know..it's a lot harder to achieve that look without a bumpit than it looks! maybe i'll give in and get one!

Pictures, Trisha! Pictures!
IT IS SOOOOOOOO EASY AND QUICK! I bought it for $10 at Walgreens (do not order online, its $35!) It comes with instructions, a Hollywood bump it, regular bump it, and a bump it for bangs. You just seperate the top of your hair, tease it, stick the bump it in, smooth your hair over the bump it and then hairspray! You can then pin your hair, pony tail it, updo, theres a style guide that comes with it. It's harder for super fine hair, but since I have thick horse hair it works great. No pics yet sorry but I'm gonna be using this like every day!!!
SCORE
Trisha - post a pic, I wanna see it.
