If Sazze was a city...

...what do you think it would be like?

Would be various products just laying around the city and all of us would give feedback on every item? Would Zia and Calvin be sitting on a throne overseeing all of us? Would we all wear themed outfits on Fridays? Would there be hundreds of conversations happening at one time at the bar or at our local Starbucks?

What do you think?!

So we've got another committed resident, the crazy lady at the edge of town with a spoon. And does that mean you'll be the zoo-keeper, Patrick?
Eryn B. 04/14/09
Patrick we need someone to watch over our vampire rabbits, and the other experimental animals that are being produced under our city by an unknown scientist. You would only be helping them, because if they are not contained, then they will be hunted and killed.

Who else lives in our wonderful city?

Bacon Flavored Mints

I bought these as sort of a gag gift for a friend of mine. He absolutely LOVES bacon and anything within bacon or that goes well with bacon. So when I saw these, I had to get them for him.

For what it was worth, it was a good laugh when he got them. Who wouldn't laugh at bacon flavored mints!? Well, maybe a PETA Activist or something. Anyways, as cute and gimmicky as they are, they don't taste that great. It tastes like a regular mint, but like it fell in some hot bacon grease and just simmered for a while. Eventually those of who tried them spit them right back out. But it was fun trying them!

Twilight Bag Clip/Key Ring "Apple & Heart"

I got this key ring/bag clip thing when I got my French Twilight DVD in Canada. It was a gift with purchase and apparently they were a hot commodity because the tween twi-fans behind me were SO excited to get theirs! I died a little inside when I heard them squeal at how cute it was. I almost wanted to tell the sales lady, "Oh no thank you. I'm not THAT much of a fan." But I smiled and tucked it into the shopping bag and didn't think much of it.

But now I feel like I shouldn't have taken it! First, it's a really cheap quality key ring. It feels flimsy and light, and I wouldn't trust my keys on that thing. And furthermore, I'm not going to use it! So now it's literally collecting dust on my desk.

Maybe I'll sell it on craigslist. SOMEONE will want it.

Mindy Weiss - The Wedding Book: The Big Book for Your Big Day

Every single wedding book brags that it is the "everything" book and has anything and everything you wanted to know. While that's probably true, this book delivers that and then some! Plus, it's totally easy to read and thumb through- so that's a definite plus.

I got this book from my man of honor as an engagement gift. As my fiancée and our families immersed ourselves in wedding planning, lots of random questions came up. What's the proper etiquette for this? What's the name of that kind of dress? And so on. And every single time a new question came up, this book has always delivered the answer. It also highlights random facts and details that every bride and groom should know but probably never considered! For example, did you know that there is such a thing as wedding insurance?! We didn't! And now we are definitely looking into getting in.

If you are getting married or are helping plan a wedding, I highly recommend getting this book! You won't be disappointed.

Voss Still Water 500

I would never pay for this water- it's far too expensive and for no good reason. However, when I stayed at The W a while back, Voss water was all they had. Luckily it also comes in still water. (Normally only Voss Sparkling Water is all you can get.) And being the water snob that I am, I can honestly say that the water itself wasn't bad. It didn't taste funky like fancier waters do (i.e. Evian), and it definitely had a fresh and crisp taste to it. But so do cheaper waters like Dasani! So the only distinguishing thing about Voss is a fancy bottle and the status it gets you. Never have I had a water bottle that caught so much attention. I brought it to work and refilled it with our water cooler water, and pretty much anyone that saw it had some sort of comment. "That's quite a water bottle...Voss? Sorry big baller....Is that vodka or water in there?" You get the idea.

So all in all, the water is good. The bottle is great if you want attention and to up your status. But is it worth $10 a bottle? That's up to you. :P

Visa Gift Card

If you are going to give someone a gift card, then I think Visa gift cards are a fantastic way to go. You can use them practically anywhere Visa is accepted so this allows the person receiving the gift to really choose something that means a lot to them instead of narrowing their selections to something at a certain store that they may not even want to go to. They look like regular credit cards which I think is kind of cute about them, too.

The one downfall and the one reason I'm giving it only 4 stars is because they charge a surcharge to "activate" them or something like that. So you end up paying just a bit more than the gift card itself.

Talk about ungrateful!

So I just wanted to share a bitter and surprising moment I had today. I'm still kind of in shock about it and not sure how to proceed. So any feedback/advice/etc would be appreciated!

So things at my work have been BEYOND hectic and chaotic lately. (For reference- I work in the field of in tobacco and nicotine cessation) and with all the recent tax increases on cigarettes, combined with the poor economy and people losing jobs, we are seeing record numbers of people wanting to quit smoking. So a big kudos to them!

That being said, my employees have been running ragged and are drained and burnt out by the end of each day. So as a thank you to each one of my counselors that I manage, I made each of them a hand made personalized "Thank You" card (which I thought was so much nicer than a generic thank you card with a standard greeting and just my name signed) AND a $50 Visa Gift Card! NICE right? You can use a Visa gift card almost anywhere so it's as good as cash!

So anyways, HERE'S where the ungrateful starts. One of my employees is a very earthy, hippie type kinda gal. When she realized I gave her a Visa gift card and her thank you card, this is the e-mail I get from her:

"I don't believe in the business practices of Visa or any other major corporation and I don't appreciate a thank you card because it's a waste of a tree. This is nothing but a waste to me."

Ummm. WHAT!? Are you KIDDING ME!?

She then brings it back to me and rolls her eyes and looks at me as if I'm some corporate hungry tree murderer. I get that she doesn't like the corporate side of the world, I even get that she wants to save the environment. But REALLY!? COME ON NOW!

Okay, I'm done venting. I guess there isn't much to proceed on, but I'm open to any comments you all have!

THANKS for letting me vent!

As long as it's free-range livestock and oil from organically grown vegetables.
Kristine C. 04/08/09
You all crack me up and make me feel so much better!

And I COMPLETELY respect her views and opinions, so that's definitely not what I consider to be ungrateful by any means.

It was just the super sass and condescending message and attitude afterward. And furthermore, in my opinion if she is SUCH a committed conservationist/environmentalist/anti corporation kind of gal, then why work for a corporate company in the middle of downtown Seattle's financial district? But again, that's just my opinion.

From now on, I'll just thank her in person when she does something worth thanking.

Oh and the leftover gift card? I'm using it to give more stuff to the rest of my employees. I'm thinking Starbucks gift cards or a happy hour on me.

The Fame by Lady Gaga

All I can say is I LOVE LADY GAGA'S THE FAME!!! Like everyone else, the first track that caught my attention was "Just Dance" But my now my favorite is the single "The Fame." Some will argue the money is all about money, fame, status, and so on. And to that I say, so what? It's music, she can sing about whatever her heart desires! And furthermore, she's got the goods to back it up! So if you don't like it, you're clearly not her target audience. :P

The tracks are a blend of Eurofunk and hip hop, with a hint of sass and sugar. Lady Gaga has quickly elevated herself in the music scene and her music to the dance scene. It's fun, it's colorful, and it's awesome. I listen to this album pretty much everyday!

Love Actually by Original Soundtrack

Perhaps one of the cutest soundtracks ever. The whole time I was watching the movie I kept thinking, "I LOVE this soundtrack!" It's Christmasy, it's lovey dovey, it's slightly British, it's just overall adorable. It's just a good blend of music. My absolute favorite track is "Jump for my Love" by The Pointer Sisters! But "All You Need is Love" follows behind as a close second.

My opinions might be slightly biased though because I'm in total wedding planning mode and a lot of these songs are slowly being integrated into my wedding day music repertoire. But nonetheless, if you like sweet yet funky pop music, this is a great soundtrack to jam to!

Stephenie Meyer - The Twilight Saga: Slipcased

The books themselves get five stars. The slipcased protective casing? Meh, you get four stars from me. I'm the kind of person that totes my current book of the week around with me wherever I go. On the bus, to the lunch room, etc. So the fancy hard cover books in a fancy case makes me feel like I can only read them at home and then I must put them back in the case. It's crazy, I know. But if it comes in such a nice case shouldn't the book always stay in pristine condition? That's my neurotic outlook at least!

But if you are giving someone the entire Twilight Saga as a gift, then this would be a nice and convenient way to go.

The one downfall though is that the case only comes with the hardcover books. If you buy them individually, you can get the first 2 books in the series in paperback.

Chanel No.5 by Chanel

Classic, clean, elegant. It's very Breakfast at Tifffanys, with white roses, cashmere sweaters and pearl earrings. Okay, maybe not so much, but you get the idea. In my opinion, you can never go wrong with Chanel perfume. It's so feminine, but it goes well with any style.

I love wearing Chanel No. 5 when I want to feel especially classic and elegant. Even the bottle is elegant. I went to a perfumer in France and learned that the bottles themselves become quite valuable with time. And with Chanel being, well, Chanel, the bottle is definitely worth keeping! It's even long lasting and smells better the longer it's on. Sometimes I'll grab a scarf that I wore a day or two ago, and I still can smell the fragrant Chanel on it.

Valentino V 1.6oz Spray by Valentino

You know that musky smell that passes by you, probably some funky man on the street in a brightly colored jogging suit and a gold chain perhaps? That smell of cheap cologne and fresh sweat? Well that's Valentino perfume for women! Funky sweat in a fancy looking bottle.

I got this as a gift from an acquaintance type friend. I thought to myself, "Hmm. Valentino. Must be nice." I put it on one day without testing it, only to spend the rest of the day getting whiffs of myself and then groaning with disgust and embarrassment.

Save your money. Don't buy Valentino perfume.

Knit Convertible Mittens / Gloves with Palm Patch

If I could cuss here, I would say I *expletive deleted* LOVE these gloves!!!! Living and working in downtown Seattle means a lot of walking and hopping on and off a bunch of buses in the rain and the cold. These versatile gloves allow to keep my hands roasty toasty warm, but also lets me pop my fingers out as needed to grab my bus pass or change the songs on my iPod.

Other than that, they are just cute and go well with any outfit. I always get compliments on them- I have a few different kinds. They're definitely worth the money!

Cashmere-Silk Pashmina - (For Women)

I absolutely love pashminas! They are so functional and versatile. One day it's a warm scarf keeping me ever so warm on a cold day. The next day it's an elegant wrap at the latest gala. You can wrap it around your neck, or drape it over your shoulders, even tie it up front. It's whatever tickles your fancy and suits you style.Pashminas are different from standard scarves because they are wider in length and sometimes have thinner fabric. Often they are made of a much more delicate fabric. So the one caveat to them is that hey have to be dry cleaned or sometimes hand washed. But hey, that's the price you pay for quality!
