I have this laptop cooling stand, but in black. There's a single fan in the middle on the stand. The stand has a "saddle" shape so the that center part of it doesn't come into contact with the laptop, and the fan blows air up through it. The bottom of the laptop then directs the airflow out to the sides. Power is via a USB port on your laptop (there are no additional USB ports on this stand, so you lose one port).
It operates quietly and seems to help keep the laptop cool by circulating air under it. It doesn't attach to the laptop in any way, so if you move your computer you also need to move the stand. There's a prop on the rear underside of the stand that tilts your computer towards you just a bit, and overall everything is about an inch higher off the table. The USB cord stores in the space under the prop (it doesn't detach). It's also fairly lightweight.
I'd recommend this stand for laptop users. It would be too large for netbooks, not that most people would use it for a netbook.
