Jessica Lange plays a new widow whose stepdaughter (Christine Baranski) demands the return of her father's ashes. When Lange refuses, wanting to fulfill her husband's wishes to have his ashes spread throughout some of their favorite travels, her stepdaughter threatens to take the house. Eventually Lange realizes what she needs to do and takes off across the country with her two best friends in his husband's prized Bonneville to return the ashes, and has one last adventure with her husband along the way. Despite the fact these women are past what some would consider their prime, they have the time of their life as well as quite a few lessons about themselves and each other along the way.

I have to give credit to Lange, as well as the two that play her friends, Kathy Bates and Joan Allen, for being so willing to to put away the leading lady status and appear as mature women. I remember Lange as being a young vibrant actress from movies like Tootsie and King Kong, so was surprised to see her so much older now. Suddenly, I realized she wasn't the only one to have aged as thirty years have passed.
