I'm not normally into sci-fi movies, but I do see them occasionally with my son. He had read the Bridge to Terabithia book, and wanted to see the movie. What I found watching this was a movie that while being based in science fiction and fantasy, it also completely pulled me in emotionally.

A new girl moves to a new school and new town, and finds herself not fitting in. She does find a neighbor boy that she starts to talk to and hang out with, and they realize a common bond, the need and desire to escape. While she does it through stories that she makes up in her head, he does it through drawings. They begin to marry their ideas together, and create the Bridge to Terabithia.

I was so drawn into their emotional need to escape. I won't ruin the movie for anyone else, but there's something that happens later in the film that shocked me so much emotionally that it had me grabbing my son's knee as he sat next to me, trying to catch my breath as it took me by surprise. While it's not the hallmark of a good movie for some, it is for me.

I had read the book before I had seen the film. I guess in my head... it looked a lot better. I had read it years ago... and still remembered it because it was such a good book. But the film... ugh... it just sort of was a disappointment. For the most part, it was a pretty cute film. It really jerked at my emotions (as do all sad films). I think they picked some good actors to play the parts, however somethings just irked me... Some of the creatures did not look like I had pictured them to. Maybe it is just me, and my picky attitude... Either way, I think any one could enjoy this film. It was still really good. But I think reading the book is your best bet. :] It looks so much better in your head, than in the film.

I thought this was a cute movie. I liked the story, but the ending was sad and unexpected.
This movie is based on the book by Katherine Paterson, which I have not read. Jesse is a young 5th grade boy, who doesn't have any friends. His family lives out in the country, and are living frugally, so to top off the fact that he is a loner, the kids at school make fun of his hand me downs. He finds solace in running and drawing. Until Leslie moves in next door. There is a race and Leslie wins, which at first upsets Jesse, but then they become friends. They both enjoy playing make believe and venture out in to the woods, looking for a fun place to play. They come across a river with only a rope swing to cross, they name it Terabithia. They play rulers of their kingdom, and really enjoy the time they spend there. Unfortunately an unexpected event occurs, and the movie takes a drastic turn at the end.
I would suggest this movie for kids 10 and up.
You can buy this movie on EBay for $7.99.

This is a very addorible movie - and another one that I could watch over and over again! Granted, Bridge to Terabithia was different from what I thought it would be before I saw it, but I still loved every minute of it. It's different and the visual affects are amazing! They make it seem like everything is so real. The characters are also very easy to relate to. And even if you can't relate to them, you're sure to end up feeling for them at some point during the movie!

It can be such a moving story, the friendship between the new girl in school and the slightly "loser-ish" boy. Through their most common link of wanting to escape, the two of them create their own 'world' in a way to do just this.

This is a movie that, if you are a fan of Narnia, you should like!
