Despite the fact Dirty Dancing takes place in the early 60s, it's somehow reminiscent of the 80s, the era the movie was released in. When you think of this movie, you just think of the 80s, Jennifer Grey with her original nose, and Patrick Swayze when he first became a sex symbol, not to mention a dance style that was reignited.

Grey plays a teenaged girl on vacation at a resort back in the 1960s, with dreams of joining the Peace Corps. She's the baby of the family and is even called "Baby." She comes to the resort innocent, but spending time with the dancers who are part of the entertainment at the resort, she gets a whole education and leaves a woman.

Corny as it may be, I still love this movie, especially the ending where Swayze takes a stand. When Grey finally makes that lift, you just want to celebrate with her.

The best way to get rid of a man you no longer have feelings for is invite him around to a 'Dirty Dancing' theme night at your house. You and your friends can dress up as Baby and Penny, maybe even get your mum round to play Vivienne the 'Bungalow Bunny' and then watch him edging away in revulsion in the black wife beater singlet you bought him especially for the occasion, as you drunkenly lip sync all the words and crawl around the floor shouting, "Romeo?" "Yes Mickey?!" He'll be terrified and you can enjoy yourself at the same time.

In terms of ultra trashy, 80's, girly entertainment, Dirty Dancing is probably one of the best films ever made. i ached as a young teenager to go to summer camp and meet someone as sweaty and manly as Patrick, instead of the prepubescent acne ridden Germans who wouldn't know a Cha Cha from a Tango if their life depended on it. Apparently there is a sequel to this movie, but I refuse to watch it and ruin the dream.

This is such a classic movie! Who didn't want to start dancing right after they watched that famous last scene of the movie? But I have to admit, I can only watch it like once every year. The story line is so weak and cheesy. The perfect daughter turns rebellious at a family summer camp and ultimately discovers herself. And furthermore, Partick Swyaze's character had to be at least ten years older than Jennifer Grey's character! I was so happy when Family Guy spoofed the "realistic ending to this movie!

I just like this movie for the dance scenes. Other than that though, it's blah.

Nobody puts Baby in a corner!

Probably one of the best movies of the 80's Dirty Dancing tells the classic stroy fo a good girl falling for the bad boy. It's a great coming of age classic that has stood the test of time, and never get's old. If I'm bbored, I watch it. If it's on TV I watch it...

Besides the great love story, the music and dancing are phenomenal. Way before dancing with the stars made ballroom popular, Dirty Dancing made it look cool.

The movie also sends a message about attitudes of the 60's, stereotypes, gorwing up and right vs. wrong. A classic I love!
