It was hard for us young people to imagine rock music and dancing not being allowed anywhere. I wasn't high school aged like the kids in this movie, being a big past it when it first dame out. Nonetheless, it was still a theme that was fascinatingly hard to understand. We knew rock music wasn't evil and had thought that was laid to rest several years before.

Yet in this movie, Kevin Bacon is the new kid, and he too is stunned that in this small town, the freedoms he used to take for granted are now not allowed. The Reverend's daughter falls for him, but at times she sees to be falling for a rebel more than Bacon himself. Eventually, that freedom that Bacon had taken for granted, becomes his key to making friends in the small town.

This movie also brought us many hits back in the 80s, not the least of which was the title track by Kenny Loggins. Deniece Williams, Mike Reno and Ann Wilson, Bonnie Tyler, Sammy Hagar, and Moving Pictures also scored hits.
