Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey

As I often attach imagine voices and thoughts to my dogs' personalities, I find this movie with two dogs and a cat talking to each other on their journey back home extremely charming and amusing. The celebrity voices here just seem to add to that.

Michael J. Fox voices a young dog, Don Ameche a much older dog, and Sally Field at cat, as they represent the pets of a recently blended family. The family takes off on a group honeymoon and send the pets to a nearby farm to be taken care of while they're gone. The animals misunderstand and think they've been abandoned. They run away from the farm, intending to find their way back home, and have many silly and heartwarming adventures along the way.

This is a wonderful, heartwarming children's/family film. It tells the tale of three animals: the old wise Golden Retriever, the young uppity puppy and the prissy fluffy Siamese cat. The animals' family goes on a long trip of some sort, leaving the animals in the care of neighbors. The animals, of course, misunderstand, and think that the family has left. Instead of being abandoned, they decide to take off after the family themselves. They encounter wild animals, forests, trains...everything along the way! It's a story of devotion, and if you're a blubbery idiot when it comes to heartwarming movies, books, commercials, you name it, then bring a box of kleenex.
