Yet another classic 80s movie from the time when all the young people seemed to be very self-absorbed. Come to think of it, maybe young people are always self-absorbed.
Andrew McCarthy stars as a young artist who just can't hold down a job, as everything to him is a creation, including his one-time job making mannequins. Down on his luck one night, he recognizes the mannequin he created in a department store window and gets a job dressing her. She then comes alive for him, in the form of Kim Cattrall, but only at night with everyone else is gone.
I have to admit while I was typing the above, it sounded so trite and overused of a plot. But there's just something quirky and fun about this movie. One thing that adds to that is McCarthy, as he just always played such a good loner who mooned over women he couldn't have, and the other is definitely Cattrall who just purrs through every movie she's in.
