Add this movie to the lists of those that were about and around writers that I like. I didn't become a writer until later in life, yet it's funny that when I look back on the movies that I love, many of them are about writers.
Kathleen Turner stars as a romance novelist who hasn't experienced much of the world herself. She takes off to Colombia against all of her better judgement to rescue her sister who is being held hostage. Not having any survival skills or knowing where she's going, she runs into Michael Douglas, who is much more worldly. After her bus crashes, and she's stranded with her suitcase and high heels, and with the promise of being paid a lot of money, he takes care of that, breaking the heels off and ditching the suitcase as they try to make it back to civilization They hate each other at first, but it being a romantic comedy, we know how it'll turn out.
I'm not sure if I wanted to be a writer like Turner in the movie or whether I just wanted the romance she finds here, or maybe it was even the adventure. Yet, if I flipped on the TV right now and it was on, I would drop everything I was doing to sit down and watch it again, despite the fact that I know everything that's going to happen.
