If your a Simpsons fan, this movie is a must! If you're not, it still is! It's a great movie packed with laughs and it's good to see your favorite tv series become an extended show where the story plot is more developed. I love this movie and i highly recommend it!

This movie is pretty decent. Watched it once but really didn't care to watch it again. It is pretty funny at least. From what I remember about the plotline, Homer, being Homer, polluted a lake and the end result was a huge dome was put over Springfield. I think it got a bit ridiculous, however, its Simpsons too. Its definately better than most of the recent episodes though.

When I heard that they were going to make a Simpsons Movie I really wanted to see it and when I did I thought it was OK. It takes at least two runs through the movie to actually get the high points. Now that I have seen it more than once I still like it as much as I did the first time. When it first came out I thought it was going to be this epic movie that would change the show forever and maybe add some new characters. But it really does not change anything. The picture of this movie is great. And with blu ray it makes it even better and it adds bonus features to it. The one thing I liked about it was the fact that it has all the main characters and a lot of the reoccurring ones. Over all I would recommended that you see this movie and maybe buy it if you are a true fan, but i still would rather watch the show rather than the movie.

I've always liked the Simpsons. I think it's funny, topical and pokes fun at a lot of society's stupidity and craziness. I'm not saying the movie wasn't funny, but I was expecting a bit more from it. I thought the glass dome over the city storyline was pretty lame and the story could have been much better. I will admit there were some really funny parts to the movie, the very best being "Spider Pig". I want to get that song as my ringtone! All and all it was not a bad movie, just not great, some of the thirty minute episodes of the show, pack in more humor. I'm just glad I paid $3.99 to rent it, rather than $9.00 to see it in the movie theatre.

I wasn't a huge Simpsons fan to begin with. But I hopped on the Simpsons Movie bandwagon and ended up watching the movie when it came out in theaters and then again on DVD for some reason. And each time I was let down. The best moments are in the previews so when you go to watch it, it's just a big let down. The story line is weak and leaves you feeling like you just wasted a big amount of time. It doesn't deliver and even the most dedicated Simpsons fans will be let down. Plus everyone started singing the "Spider Pig" song and it all just got way too over done.

I don't really go out of my way to watch the Simpsons, but when it's on and there's nothing else on, I"ll definitely watch it. My husband, on the other hand, loves them and watched them since he was a kid.

After watching the movie we agreed that it was just, eh, okay. It really did seem a little long and drawn out, and it was a little too slapstick. Usually I look forward to the clever humor that the show plays on, but this movie didn't really have too much of that.

Some of the scenes really seemed long and drawn out too. It really did feel like they were stretching it just so it would be long enough to count as a movie.

Overall, okay movie, but I'm not going to watch it again.

Not being a major Simpsons fan myself, I was a little reticent to see this film. However, from the moment my brother popped it in, I was in love with it. My family and I all found ourselves laughing along to the Simpson's antics (and Homer's in particular). The classic formula as Homer as a dope is great and surprisingly, watching a full length Simpson's episode was nowhere near as painful as I thought. In fact, there are some absolutely hilarious quotable moments in this movie "Spider pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does...." of course being just one of many!

I felt totally ripped off after seeing this movie in a theater. Yeah, Homer was right in his opening joke where he says the audience was fooled or tricked into watching this movie. I felt like watching an overpriced movie consisting of about 3 or 4 normal TV episodes of the Simpsons. I just kept on thinking afterward that I could have had the same amount of enjoyment if I had watched the Simpsons on TV, and for free! The story wasn't really that good, although the makers managed to stretch a single plot to make it feel like a movie. There were occasional hysterical jokes from main man Homer, but overall not enough to make me feel that I got my money's worth. In the end part after the credits, I remember Maggie saying "sequel". Well, fat chance of me watching a Simpsons Movie again in a movie theater. I'd just probably rent it.

Eighteen years after The Tracy Ullman Show the longtime creators of The Simpson’s cannot be expected to create an hour and a half of brilliance when they’ve only tried this plot in 22 minute slots. The film reads much like the plot of every Simpson’s episode you’ve ever seen (saying ‘I’ve never seen an episode right now would be un-American). Homer does something that creates a problem, it tests his family’s love for him, he does something ever dumber to prove his love and everyone learns something. This time Homer dumps his pig feces silo into the lake and creates major problems for Springfield. The plot, surprisingly, holds out for the duration of the film, it’s nothing special, but it doesn’t fail like most adult-cartoon films (See Family Guy: The Stewie Griffin Story or Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters). Best of all the film remains consistently funny. The first half hour is a non-stop barrage of jokes (including possibly the greatest Simpson’s song ever, “Spider-Pig), after that the jokes thin in an attempt to keep the plot from treading water. But it holds up. In typical Simpson’s fashion there are a few guest stars in the film, but they keep it to a minimum so they film doesn’t begin to feel more like a reminiscence of the last eighteen seasons. It’s more or less a lengthy episode that is easily the best of the new adult-cartoon features that are appearing. And it’s good enough to keep the audience excited over the prospect of a sequel, which is all but promised during the closing credits of the film.

The Simpsons. What was it, 19 years in the making? That's almost as many years as I am... in the making. It takes the old school actions you would expect from the characters, as well as some unexpected, yet welcomed, actions and push them to the edge where they leave it up to you whether you'll simply stand there admiring the view or fall off that edge, resulting in what could only be described as rolling on the floor laughing. They took a classic and reinvented it and I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that it only deepened the roots of the legacy in those that went to see it/will see it. Also, there were some psychedelic moments in there that I'm sure they put in for all the people that are both drug, as well as, Simpson enthusiasts. E.G. Otto making out with his bong.

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed the Simpsons, and for good reason. It hasn't aged well. The jokes are stale, the preaching far too pretentious, some of the characters flat out annoying (I'm looking at you Lisa) and with a myriad of other shows on TV (South Park, Family Guy etc.) that either accomplish the satirical parody or flat out ridiculous humor better, there's been precious few reasons to watch a TV show that should've retired years ago.

That being said, the Simpsons Movie does little to really change that impression. The animation and production value is top notch, and there are a few good jokes here and there (the Arnold Schwarzenegger parts were admittedly pretty hilarious)but the storyline of Homer accidentally dooming Springfield to quarantine and eventual destruction...well...just isn't that interesting.

What can I say? Simpsons the Movie is really just more of the same. It's basically three or four episodes of the Simpsons taped together with one, rather boring, story connecting them together into a single film.

If you enjoy the Simpsons, you'll love the movie. However, if you're grown tired of the show like I have, this movie isn't really going to change your mind.

I actually stopped watching 'The Simpsons' a number of years ago. I thought the writing just wasn't as sharp as it used to be when it first started. When I first learned there would be a Simpsons movie I wasn't exactly thrilled.

When I learned that it would actually be rated PG-13 I began to get interested. I finally saw it after the crowds died down (I HATE seeing movies in a crowded theater, some idiot's cell phone is always ringing or some other moron will talk during the movie) and was HOWLING with laughter!

From the very first frame where Ralph Wiggim comes out of the FOX logo and sings along with the FOX music to the Simpsons watching the end credits along *with* the audience 'The Simpsons Movie' was everything the show used to be and more.

That thanks to the PG-13 rating. Bart's naked ride on a skateboard was a scream! Then there were the numerous digs at Disney. One where Bart puts a black bra on his head like one famous set of mouse ears and gleefully says, "Hey look at me! I'm the mascot of an evil corporate entity!!"

Then there was the scene where Homer and Marge get it on, their removal of clothes assisted by very 'Disney-esque' forest animals. When the animals actually see Homer and Marge they all react with shock and disgust!!

And of course there was SPIDER PIG!! The movie had so many throw away jokes and sight gags it really needs to be seen a few times to get all of them.

If any of my friends or relatives happen to be reading this let it be known I don't have this on DVD and it would make quite an impression on me if I received it.

Was that subtle enough?

What a great concept that turned into a boring two-hour-long TV episode. I was sadly dissappointed by the Simpson's Movie. I love the show, have since I was a young kid, but the movie wasn't anything spectacular. The jokes were bland and way over done, and with the best part of the whole thing in the first twenty minutes, I'm a little sad that I paid ten dollars to see this movie in theatres. I wish they had spent a little more time developing the plot and adding in real subplots. It would've been great if they had spent more time proofreading the jokes and gags, too. Overall, I'd give this movie a two out of five.

The Simpsons Movie really left nothing to be desired. From the moment Ralph sang along with the Twentieth Century Fox intro, my smile never left my face.

I watched in anticipation for the scene everyone was talking about, that made Ralph proclaim, "I like boys now," and was entertained every step along the way.

Although I don't let my kids watch The Simpsons on tv, I did watch the movie with them my second time around. My two-year-old cracked up every time the pig was in the scene, my six-year-old happily sings "Dome Depot" as he bounces on the couch, and the whole family speaks in Simpson Movie one-liners to communicate.

Not to be missed. Of course, we own it and have watched it several times. "Spider Pig, Spider Pig, does whatever a Spider Pig does..."

“Why pay for something that I can watch on TV for free?” – Homer Simpson

Why? Because it’s the Simpsons, damnit! And they have a movie…finally! I’ll admit, I must yield to my better judgment in sizing up The Simpsons Movie, for the Orthodox Simpsonian in me is telling me one thing and one thing alone: I wish this movie was made ten to twelve years ago. Because it was those dozen or so years ago – throughout most of the 1990’s, really – that the Simpsons owned television. That lovable, outrageous suburban family, with their freakishly yellow skin, bulging eyes, prominent overbite, and their famous four fingered hands (which, according to creator Matt Groening, was cheaper than adding the fifth digit), was FOX’s freak show for everything Generation X, and for everything in the social satire animation department that would give rise to South Park and Family Guy. The show, in its 19th season, is still a ratings darling for the network, and the movie was a hit, but steady has its decline been from its early-to-mid-90’s heyday; those glory days in the Springfield universe, when the Simpsons were in peak creative form. A USA Today poll in 2003 listing the shows best episodes clinched the show’s decline. The most recent episode listed by the fans, “Homer’s Phobia,” was from 1997; the show’s writers listed 2000’s “Behind the Laughter” as the newest; and most of the other greatest hits were pre-1995 installments. I guess the notion of going out on a high (leave ‘em laughing as they say) never occurred to Groening and his revolving door of writers. Seinfeld did it. But they didn’t make a movie; and now, finally, the Simpsons have.

I yield to better judgment because this movie is not the same Simpsons that I grew up watching. It can’t be. So I will judge it for what it is: a good lot of zany cartoonish fun. To be more precise, it is a worthy episode of the 2007-era Simpsons – a show well past its prime, but still worth watching – stretched out to a 90-minute feature length. New to the Simpson world, there are a lot of great blockbuster movie special effects and dazzling set pieces. If one thing’s for sure (and we know it is), this is one Simpsons episode that can afford to go for broke. This is Simpsons Hollywood style.

And, in the midst of all the chaos and hell-fire excitement, there is a plot in here somewhere too, however overdone it all seems. It involves the pollution of Lake Springfield, which we quickly learn is so grossly contaminated that when a wolf chases after a squirrel, the furry little critter dashes into the water and reemerges as a hideous mutant swamp-thing with twelve eyeballs. The Environmental Protection Agency, with their villainous leader (Albert Brooks), convince President Arnold Schwarzenegger (Harry Shearer, who voices more characters on the show than anyone) to intervene, and a giant glass dome is placed over the entire town, sealing it off from the outside world. Grandpa Simpson, (Dan Castallaneta, also the voice of Homer), in true Grandpa form, pitches a fit in church, and prophesizes doom on all of Springfield. The prerelease trailer for the film shows Homer doing his Spiderpig shtick (and the look on Marge’s face is priceless), but it doesn’t reveal his method of disposing of piggy waste, a quintessential Homer debacle that ignites the angry mob of Springfieldians, not the mention the U.S. government, against the fated Simpsons. On the lamb from the law, Homer and family flee from Springfield, and take up in Alaska (an ideal hiding spot for Homer because “you can’t be too fat or too drunk” to live there). Ultimately, a government plot to destroy Springfield develops, but that’s beside the point. This is, after all, a movie about a family.

It’s curious, though, how irrelevant the rest of the wonderful cast of oddball Springfield characters is to the plot. Where is Mr. Burns? Smithers? Moe? Apu? Principal Skinner? Mayor Quimby? Krusty? All appear in brief stints, but none are given any significant screen time. Maybe their contracts ran out. You’d figure Mr. Burns could at least bribe his way into a few meaty scenes. Get his name in the best Supporting Actor blurb. And how about Marcia Wallace? The voice of Edna Krabapple, Bart’s 4th grade teacher, she won an Emmy all the way back in 1992 and has appeared in over 100 episodes as a “guest” star. But I guess she wasn’t “star” enough, because she didn’t even get the compliment of a screen credit for the movie (no surprise; her lone moment comes at the beginning, when Edna rips her shirt off at a Green Day concert). These are minor points maybe, but for a member of the old Simpson guard like myself – remembering the days, in a galaxy long ago, when these characters could carry episodes to classic status – giving them all the shaft on the biggest Simpsons stage seems to me like a bit of an opportunity squandered.

There do, also, seem to be moments when the movie tends to lapse into rerun mode. Lisa’s courtship with Colin (Tress MacNeille), the new Irish boy in town, and Bart’s peculiar liking to Flanders (Shearer) as a nurturing father figure, seem to spring from recycled story ideas. They feel forced and out of place in what is essentially an animated action-comedy. And you can decide for yourself whether the ‘action’ part of the equation is a tad too heavy. It certainly has comedy, but not as much of the quite, homey charm that a simpler story might have had. Homer strikes me as out of his element as the super-action-hero here.

But I digress. I must give pause to my admitted old school loyalties and say that The Simpsons Movie is overall a wickedly fun ride. And better late than never, it has arrived.

This cartoon/movie is about a dumb founded guy named Homer Simpson that pollutes the town of Springfield, and now because of this the US Government want to wipe out Springfield from the map, and the Simpsons family are declared fugitives for doing this, and Homer needs to save the day. I enjoyed this movie because I am a huge Simpson’s fan and I have been watching the Simpsons since I was about eight years old. This movie was overall great but the thing that disturbed me about this movie is Bart being naked in the beginning of the movie, and there were a couple of inappropriate jokes that I disliked, but overall this movie was great. This movie was a nominated for Golden Globe, and also had 15 nominations, and I think they deserved it. Overall this movie was tremendous and if you did not see it, it is worth watching.

Oh, "Simpsons Movie," how I wanted to love you. I had such high hopes. I'm a devoted Simpsons fan and drooled over every parsimoniously leaked trailer in the months leading up to the movie's release. I would watch the "Spider Pig" commercials over and over, eagerly looking forward to the movie that could produce such hilarious clips.

Alas, the movie as a whole did not live up to the trailers. It seemed too long, too unfocused, and most unfortunately, too message-driven. The Simpsons TV show is at its best when it is being random and meandering through slightly ridiculous, sublime situations. I love when episodes begin at point A, zigzag through point M before somehow arriving at point H. The best episodes are ones where they take advantage of the show's cartoon nature and fully exploit the suspension of disbelief that audience grants cartoon characters to get into absurd, improbable situations.

In contrast, the movie was very heavy-handed. Yes, there were the ridiculous moments and funny sight gags, but the vast majority of the movie was too preachy. It was like the writers all watched "An Inconvenient Truth" together, got slightly drunk, and then wrote the script in a fit of intoxicated moral superiority. I agree that global warming and pollution are important issues, but I don't need my favorite cartoon family to make a 90-minute movie that can be summed up as "Pollution is Bad." I wanted to like this movie more, but I couldn't get over how plot-driven (and at times, dull) it was. Instead of watching it on DVD I'm going to go back to enjoying what The Simpsons do best--absurdist 20-minute TV shows.

The Good:

The Simspons, with emphasis on Homer, deliver some funny moments in this movie. Who can forget “Spider Pig” and “Harry Porker?” Like all Simpsons episodes it starts with a situation that creates a twist.

The Bad:

It's feels like an extended length Simpsons episode, rather than a movie. That wouldn't be so bad if it felt like an extended length top of the line episode, but in the Simpsons' universe this is pretty mediocre. With all the wait for a Simpsons movie, and all the hype it received once it was announced, it was a pretty big disappointment.

Bottom Line:

Worth a watch, but not the best of the Simpsons.

I liked it, but I didn't love it. To me it was funny and entertaining, but I have seen better episodes on the small screen (television) and I felt that the story could have been adequately conveyed in 60 minutes.

There were some really funny parts, particularly the scene involving Flanders and Bart when Bart was still hesitant to let Flanders befriend him. That is until Flanders serves up a "quick" cup of hot cocoa, complete with marshmallows, shaved chocolate and a torch-fired caramelized top.

I also enjoyed Lisa and her interactions with the Irish kid. It was very sweet to see a beloved American character "grow up."

All in all I'm glad I saw it, but it was just okay.

I loved this movie! If you like The Simpson’s, you’ll love The Simpson’s Movie. From the opening scene, when Homer tells us all how stupid we are for paying to see something we can see for free on TV, it’s a laugh a minute. All of those subtle undertones, which have been running in the background of the show since its inception, have been brought to life. For the first time, stripped of the bonds of television censorship, we see the true Otto, the bus driver, Homer, the foul mouthed and irresponsible father, and Ralph Wiggum, who “bares” his soul for us all. It’s all here, and it’s all good. I don’t really recommend The Simpson’s for kids, and The Simpson’s Movie is that much less appropriate, so I agree with its PG-13 rating. Overall, this is a great movie, true to its roots.

The Simpsons movie was awesome. I say that because as a big fan of the Simpsons they made this movie great because they added everything that a Simpson’s fan really enjoys. I enjoyed many of their jokes like Bart doing Homer's dare, and the spider pig joke. This movie made me fall out my chair from laughter. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy is that the movie was too short and some jokes didn’t make sense, but everything else was great. I would recommend this movie to everyone. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars because it’s just great.

This is a movie that was worth waiting 18-19 seasons of the show to see. The story had the simpsons written all over it, The dumb Homer never ceases to amaze me with his absent mindedness that keeps moving the story forward. The film addressed topics that have significant issues in the real world while maintaining a silly general plot. The film also pays homage to alot of the gags and various characters that have been seen through the course of the television show these past 20 years. There is no doubt that if you don't own this film yet, that you should go and get it. Again, it was worth waiting 19 seasons to see!

This is one of my favorite movies! It had been a long time since I'd been to see a comedy that kept me laughing all the way through!

I'm a big time Simpson's fan and was really, really excited when this movie came out! It exceeded all my expectations and Spider-Pig is just awesome!

This is a must see movie for any Simpons fan.

Awesome movie. Even better that it came out on my birthday and all my friends went with me to go see it! I got really excited before the movie, and it pretty much met up with my expectations. I had fun, the animation was hilariously drawn, there was a good plot (well, it's a twisted plot Simpson's-style) and that pig was so friggin' cute!

Definitely recommended for all Simpsons fans, and for those with a crude sense of humor.
