I love this movie! Another classic I just recently added to my collection. This movie is about a boy that falls in love with a girl named Amanda Jones. She has got everything by first impression, great friends, a good looking boyfriend, money too you would think. He pursues her, which his best friend Watts is head over heals for him. He misses it all through the movie because he is so infatuated with Amanda Jones. The ending is classic, and I watch this movie over and over again. If you like romance, you will love Some Kind of Wonderful.

Some Kind of Wonderful is in my top ten movies, and even though it's more than twenty years old, I think it stands the test of time. It shows the state of relationships that exist in a high school, whether it be between the more popular folks, or those that seem to always be on the outside looking in.

Eric Stoltz stars as a teenage boy who explains to his father, "Dad, I like art, I work in a gas station, my best friend is a tomboy. These things don't fly too well in the American high school." I didn't like art, didn't work in a gas station, and my best friend wasn't a tomboy, but somehow he pinned down my high school experience to a T. His tomboy best friend is played by Mary Stuart Masterson, and the love of his life, one of the popular folks, is played by Lea Thompson.

Ahhhhh teen angst. Some Kind of Wonderful is a slightly updated version of Pretty in Pink, with a better looking cast and even more trendy catch phrases. Therefore, I liked it a lot! Eric Stoltz, plays the male version of Molly Ringwald and Mary Stuart Masterson plays the female doppelganger of Ducky, although much cuter.

This is a great eighties movie, focusing on the rich kids versus the cool kids from the wrong side of the tracks. Stoltz is in love with Lea Thompson, also from the "wrong side", but so pretty rich boys date her anyway. Masterson is his best friend and of course, secretly in love with him. He gets the girl in the end, but soon realizes that his tomboy sidekick is actually the girl for him. Ain't eighties love grand? This movie comes with a great soundtrack and lots of funny moments and supporting characters. The main characters are whiny, but who wouldn't be if they were trapped in 1987 and didn’t have cell phones? Great retro renter!
