I wanted to like The Astronaut Farmer a lot more than I did. It seemed like the type of movie I would just love, but for some reason, I just wasn't totally enthralled like I expected to be.
Billy Bob Thornton stars as a Texas rancher who always dreamed of being an astronaut, but was dropped from the program before he ever got the chance to go into space. Many years later, he still can't forget the dream, and puts his life and family's at risk, building his own rocket out of spare parts in his barn. It creates all sorts of problems within his family, mostly for his wife who is trying to manage it all.
Because of the relationship drama with his wife and children, I thought I'd really like it. And while I did enjoy that part of it, as well as the plotline, it wouldn't be one that I would want to watch again. I was definitely surprised about that.
