The Julius House

This is the fourth installment of Roe Teagarden mysteries. Charlaine Harris wrote another good one.

Roe finds herself married, and her new husband buys her the house that she has been admiring since the last book. It’s called the Julius house because the Julius family was the last family to occupy the home. They also disappeared 6 years earlier, seemingly in to thin air. The mystery was never solved, so Roe jumps in with both feet, you know how she likes her mysteries! In addition to trying to find out what happened to the family, her husband unexpectedly suggests that a old friend of his and this man’s wife, move in to the apartment over the garage. Roe finds it odd, but since it was suggested as them helping one of his old friends’, she accepts. Luckily she gets a long with the wife well, but is not yet sure about the man. As she gets to know this couple, she realizes there is more going on here then she was initially told. When an attempt is made on her life, and her new friend jumps in to save Roe, she can see that this is not the first time this woman has defended herself or someone else for that matter. Roe begins to realize that there are things about her husband that she has not yet been told, and that this couple is more like bodyguards then anything else. When she climbs the roof to retrieve a Frisbee, she finds what she thinks is the remains of the Julius family. Or is it? What really happened to the family? As she looks for clues, she realizes she also needs to watch her back, or has her husband taken care of that for her?
