A young boy moves to a new neighborhood and wants to fit in. Even though he's not a baseball player, he joins a group of neighborhood boys that play in the sandlot. Not having any major baseball skills, he initially doesn't fit in, but once they lose the baseball they were playing with over the fence to the yard guarded by "The Beast" a dog that looks very menacing, Smalls becomes the hero. He steals his dad's baseball so they can continue the game. The problem is, the ball was signed by Babe Ruth. This ball gets hit over the fence, too, and they know they have to face "The Beast."

My daughter fell in love with this movie in the last few days of 6th grade, and I was a bit surprised, but knowing her it's because it had a dog in it. Perhaps the things they go through in this movie are closer to what she really experiences in her life than what she sees on TV in things like Hannah Montana. Other than that, it's just a really good story, and very fitting for that age group, whether they're boys for girls. It's a great story about friendship, above all else.
