I use my computer more than 12 hours every day. I tried all kinds of office chairs: executive, leather, ergonomic, you name it. Then I tried the Swing Chair, and since I purchased it any other chair feels uncomfortable. I used to get lower back pains when sitting at the computer for long periods of time, but with the Swing Chair, I am comforatble forever. It is so worth the money, and I think you can buy it and return it if you don't like it.

Well I've had this chair as a result of winning the contest for about 5 days now. Still kind of early to write anything about the long term effects but as of right now, I LOVE THIS CHAIR!!! So far we've gone to a number of movies together, various social events, and have met each other's families so things could be building. Oh, and it's much more comfortable than my old chair with the swing mechanism providing a very comfy area of back support. As for my old chair if you read anything or see anything on the news about it jumping off the Golden Gate bridge or in front of a BART train it was by it's own choice.

From the start I knew the Swing Chair would be quite compatible with me. It took me maybe a total of 10 minutes to put it together once I took the components out of the box. The components are pretty heavy duty and I can tell will last me a very long time. Adjusting it to my whims is pretty simple too, a simple click click of the knobs and I can finely tune it to what makes my back feel happy. I have the Executive model so the armrests are wider and thicker (?) than that of the Task model. I'm actually rocking, er, swinging in it as I type this and I LOVE the feeling!! I've tried various cushions and all kinds of other gadgets but so far the Swing Chair seems to be the answer to my nagging back ache.

If it could actually cook I think marriage would definitely be in the future. And if it were human. And female. God, i"m a lonely man.

I guess they call this a swing chair for a reason.
When I first sat on it, it wasn't comfortable at all. But after half a day and I got used to it, and started to like it.
You have to lower it a lot more than the height you normally sit in, and then it will be pretty fun sitting on it.

The weird part of it is the arm rest, its sort of pointless why it's there. Other than that I am enjoying this chair, and the swings of it.

This is a very interesting chair.

I have no doubt that "ergonomically" it is an excellent chair......however.....I don't like to sit "ergonomically"......

To date, I have sat in many a chair that is ergonomically correct and have not really liked any of them. I find a chair more comfortable when I can sit in it however I like rather than being forced to sit "correctly".

My main issue with the swing chair is, ironically, its main feature. The seat moves, or "swings", too much for my taste.

It does feel more ergonomically correct than a regular chair in the sense that it moves to match how my body moves, but I really didn't care for a chair that moves with me.

Personally, I don't have back problems, and regular chairs don't bother me, so the fact that this chair is designed to ease these types of problems is most likely lost on me.

I got pleasure of sitting in this chair at work. I am thankful to Zia & Calvin to test it before passing it to me:-) I was not aware of such comfortable product for software professionals! My work needs me to sit in chair all day long. I was tired of sitting in those back breaking chairs. I wished if I could customize those chairs as per my back's need. This swing chair is highly customizable for every back :-) One can change back support very easily. The sitting portion is like a swing. At first time, you have to be little careful with this swinging thing. But once you know get adjusted, its GREAT experience. This chair is FUN to sit on and I am sure you will enjoy it. I am planning to get one for home. Price tag is little discouraging, but there is nothing more than health !

I had the luxury of trying out a Swing Chair during the Web 2.0 conference, where they company who makes the chairs, SmartMotion Technology, had a booth set up catering to us young web professionals with bad backs. Zia and I decided to try them out just to see what the fuss seemed to be all about.

We were able to get a couple of them "donated" to us to try out and to review, and I must say that I'm currently writing this review from the comfort of a Swing Chair.

First off, let me say that I'm guilty of having horrible posture, and I slump when I sit in the chairs in the office. The chairs didn't have much in the way of back support so I found myself constantly having back pains during the day and even at night. I would feel the sore spots when I went to the gym to work out. I had never realized before that it was possible to have pain associated with just sitting around all day!

When the Swing Chair arrived at the office, I didn't have to bother with assembly since my good man Zia did all the work for me. I found that sitting in a Swing Chair was a little weird at first -- it really did feel like a swing. By default, the seat portion of the chair is angled downward toward the floor at about 30 degrees or so, so sitting at the tip of the chair made me feel like I was going to slide down. But then I adjusted yourself and the chair's settings a little bit and comfort set in. This chair wasn't designed for sitting at the tip of the chair. You fully immerse yourself in it and it takes care of your butt, waist, and back for you. The chair is angled downward because it's on a "swing" mechanism that keeps the pressure on your buttocks. It moves with your body and so even though you're leaning back and forth, the chair stays with you.

My favorite part is the chair's back support. It uses the same "swing" mechanism that the seat has, except it swings back and forth. The chair's pressure is pushed against your lower back and is arched so that it encourages you to sit up straight. Leaning back on the chair is really comfortable for me because it has a good amount of resistance where it's almost holding holding me up, cradling me like a baby (yes, it's really like that). My old chair didn't have enough "lean resistance", as I like to call it, so every time I leaned back, it felt unnatural and uncomfortable.

All in all, the Swing Chair really does what it's supposed to do, and that's provide back support for people that sit in an office chair all day. The only drawback is the price tag, which comes at a hefty $495 for the "executive" chair, and $459 for the "task" chair. The former has a wider and taller backrest and larger armrest surface. It's definitely a good chair that has been helping out my poor back, so the end may just justify the means.

So I was SUPER psyched for this chair to come in!..When it arrived ( one day delivery).. I wanted to make SURE I thought about, and mentally recorded how long it took to assemble.

Some of the wordings on the directions were a bit complex, it took me about 20 minutes after putting it together before I realized I could have built the chair with no directions at all.

I’ve gota admit, when you first sit in the chair you definitely feel a little weird.. like. “whow…. Its kinda got a swing to it”

But once you get the hang of it.. its actually REALLY FUN!

Now,.. I’ve got absolutely REUPLSIVE posture... so I don’t know If im the best person to test out this bad boy, but when I got out of it after sitting for a few hours I DID feel a light soreness, maby that’s from years of sitting incorrectly? Or maybe that’s the chair, I’m not pointing fingers!

I do admit though after coming back from lunch, or the bathroom I WAS a little excited to sit in it.. like taking the fun of a swing set and applying it to a work setting.

One improvement I’d like to see made though is some of the execution of the chairs parts. Certain things I felt should have been covered in rubber, while other parts made loud plastic clicking sounds while making adjustments that I wouldn’t traditional associate with a product of this caliber

Over all, I think the chair is awesome. It’s a lot of fun to sit in, and it’s like nothing you’ve ever sat in before. I think if I had some more time in it my posture would have improved dramatically, and it REALLY is a little something to look forward to when you come into work, and let’s FACE IT, we all can use a little swing set at our desk!
