I'm about halfway through this season of Showtime's sexy historical show. I was a big fan of the first season, so came into Season 2 with high expectations. So far, they have definitely been met, and this shows now signs of changing.
As a whole, this is an excellent series. It's exciting, emotional, and all based on real events and people. I've always been fascinated by this time period, and it's a joy to see it brought to life in such high fashion.
The actors, costumes, writing, staging... everything is just excellent. Props especially go to Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who brings Henry VIII to life as never before. The character is a man to hate, love, envy, and wonder at - all at the same time. The beauty of bringing this to life on a cable network is indescribable. It really wouldn't have the same raw power if it was censored. On DVD, this experience is brought to life.
Though I've been renting the discs for my viewing experience, someday, I'd love to own them. This is something I'd watch again and again without fault.
